Our Story
Twelve years ago, what started as a vacation, unexpectedly turned into something more, and changed many lives forever.

What began as travel through Asia led our founder, Beth, to an unplanned visit to the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), one of the most devastating storms in the country’s history. What was intended to be a short volunteer visit turned into eight months of hands-on humanitarian work in and around Tacloban, Leyte — and a deep connection to the Filipino people.

Over the years, that connection continued through other disaster relief efforts, community relationships, and repeated time spent in the Philippines. In early 2020, while visiting Tacloban, Beth encountered children living on the streets, sleeping outdoors, begging for food, and without consistent care or safety. Their plight was heartbreaking.

With the help and support of trusted longtime friends in Tacloban, a simple but powerful idea took shape: create a safe home where these children could eat, sleep, learn, and be cared for.

In December 2020, that vision became reality. With the help of dear friends, a small apartment became a place of refuge. At first, children came only for meals. Over time, as trust grew, they began staying overnight — and what started as an apartment became a home.

Today, our nonprofit provides shelter, food, medical care, education, and stability for vulnerable children in Tacloban. Beth continues to spend several months in Tacloban each year working directly with the children and supporting daily operations alongside our local team.

This work is rooted in long-term commitment, deep relationships, and the belief that every child deserves safety, dignity, and a future filled with hope and opportunity.

When you support our work, you are helping provide real care for real children — every single day.
